Music

I started playing the bass guitar fairly young and, eventually, with my brother, started a band or two (heavy metal/rock). My band days are long gone, but the bass is still around, even after a 10 year lull.

When I started work on Bandit: A Road Well Traveled I decided to create a promotional trailer, custom music and all. The custom music part didn't happen, but it did re-ignite my love for the instrument.

About a year later I found I had all these different bass pieces - songs, licks, ideas, solos. So I'm recording them.

Newer Stuff

Playing to Pieces: A collection of bass guitar solos, songs, licks and other things.

Title: Bandit: A Road Well Traveled (Idea I)
Type: Web comic trailer music - Bass line
About: I like the sound of this one. It captures the feel of the story pretty well. It was taking too long to put the whole thing together so I nixed it.

Title: Bandit: A Road Well Traveled (Idea II)
Type
: Web comic trailer music - Bass line
About
: A more aggressive feel then the first one. Be nice with some screaming guitars and heavy drums.

Title: The Patchwork Solo
Type
: Solo
About
: A friend of mine suggested I play a local coffee house. The idea of playing a bass solo in front of a small, personal audience intrigued me, so I set out to write a piece that had several highs and lows, didn't stay in one place too long, and was visually interesting. -- This piece also includes more of my '80s style bass playing a la the tapping in the beginning.

Older Stuff

The following pieces are my only recorded electric guitar work. I'm not much of a guitarist, but we were in a pinch. The first two songs are from a demo tape my brother (drums) and I (bass and guitars) did for a local musician by the name of Faith Veronica. The demo was meant to showcase her vocals. She was going for a Heart-like sound. Recorded: 1992.

Room of Love - Faith Veronica

This was music I wrote and recorded for a 900 business that sought to combine comics books and heavy metal music. The fictitious band was called Vital Impact. Each month you'd call and hear comic book picks and a little music spotlighting a member of the band. Recorded: 1993.
